Our inaugural exhibit, American Girl: 35 Years of Strong Characters, showcases Blake Changnon’s extensive American Girl collection and celebrates the toy company’s 35th anniversary of creating strong, courageous and heroic characters living and growing up in different times in America’s history.

Introduced in 1986 by founder Pleasant T. Rowland, the flagship line of Historical Characters includes dolls, books and historically accurate clothing, accessories and furniture that children can use to play out the stories of the characters.

You will learn that each character is not simply a doll accompanied by toys, but a heroine of their own story that inspires and connects children to develop their own attributes of character. Ultimately becoming a role model for children and teaching them the educating power of being true to oneself.
