Candlelight for Rebecca

As the Christmas season approaches, Rebecca’s teacher assigns her class to make Christmas decorations. However, Rebecca’s family is Jewish and doesn’t celebrate Christmas. But her teacher tells her that Christmas is a national holiday and one that all Americans celebrate.

Rebecca knows that she is just as American, even though her family celebrates Hanukkah. Could her teacher be wrong? Rebecca is unsure of what to do. If she does the project, her family will be upset. However, if she doesn’t do the project, her teacher will be disappointed. But on the first night of Hanukkah, Rebecca learns the real meaning of the holiday season and finds kindness in the most unexpected place.
