Kirsten is happy when summer arrives at her home in Minnesota! Chores on the farm are fun and playful—especially when she goes fishing. While fishing, Kirsten discovers a treasure that could help her family, a bee tree full of honey!

Kirsten decides that surprising Papa with the honey is the right thing to do. It could be used to trade for items that Kirsten and her family need. Enlisting the help of her brother, Peter, they both realize that they aren’t the only ones who want the honey—a hungry bear is too!
