It’s almost Thanksgiving and the only thing Kit wishes for is for her Dad to find a new job. It’s been almost four months since her family welcomed boarders to their home to make money—as well as four months since Kit moved to the attic and her long list of daily chores.

But when Kit, Ruthier and Sterling have to deliver a Thanksgiving basket to their local soup kitchen, they run into someone they didn’t expect—Kit’s Dad. She can hardly believe it, but Kit soon realizes how much the Great Depression has changed her life. Is there anything she can do to help her family during this difficult time?
